By Lynn Pettigrew Norris Barry has recorded several CD's and writes his own music. He's a great guitar player! According to Cherie Janson, Dodge City, Kansas. Her son, Travis Janson was the bass guitar player for the group that recently performed at Cambridge. Jansen took guitar lessons in High School. At Friend's University, he learned to play the upright bass. He mostly plays a fretless bass guitar now. His grandfather was a "well-known local guitar player" according to family members. "His grandfather, Ron's dad played and we figured Travis must take after him as he has a special knack for playing any type of guitar as well," said Cherie Jansen The concert featured Barry Ward, Western Music Artist. It was held on June 17,2006 at the Cambridge Senior Citizens Center. The event was to raise funds for the Cambridge Fire and Rescue Service. A dinner was provided consisting of brisket, bunk house beans, coleslaw, and desserts provided by the Cambridge Fire. Auxiliary. The dinner was provided free of charge with donations accepted. A good-sized crowed enjoyed the music of Barry Ward and company. A raffle was held during the intermission. The Stockman's Cafe in Cambridge assisted with raffle tickets for the event. |
